About

I am about to defend my PhD on the question of point of view in moral philosophy (on November the 23rd, 2009).

I am currently post-doc at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris) and will be at the Center for Human Values, Princeton University, as a Fulbright scholar from January to July 2010.

Areas of interest:
1. contemporary american moral philosophy. What is a moral disagreement and how does one reason morally? What is the importance of "point of view" in ethics? Particular interest for the theories of moral perception, imagination and empathy, and for the related meta-ethical debates (realism/antirealism, cognitivism/anti-cognitivism, particularism, etc.). Particular interest for : Diamond, Nussbaum.
2. social philosophy. Following Honneth on the one side, Nussbaum and Sen's capabities theory on the other, how can we define a social criticism? How can philosophy define a normative discourse on society? With the methodological issue : how should we understand the relation between philosophy on the one hand, social sciences on the other.
3. moral philosophy and literature. What is the role of novels for moral knowledge, could we say that they bring a form of moral knowlege? (Putnam, Nussbaum, Bouveresse, etc.). What is the role of style for the expression of a knowledge or a particular thesis ?
